ESTREITO TO HAVE PREMIUM BEEF PRODUCTION PLANT

The newspaper O Estado do Maranhão reported the installation in the city of Estreito, southwest of Maranhão, of the world’s first beef processing plant within a vertical production system, that is, with control of all links in the production chain, all the way to the final consumer. The plant’s capacity will be 800 heads per day and its product will be destined for foreign trade.

With the installation license already approved by the environmental agency, the Origine Group is selecting the construction companies that will be responsible for erecting the project. The work is scheduled to start in the coming months and the premium processing plant is due to open in 2019. The project will generate 800 direct jobs and 2,000 indirect jobs.

The potential of bovine activity in the southwest region of the state was one of the factors that weighed on Origine’s decision to choose the city of Estreito to develop the project, which will be a world model of bio-business. So much so that the local government already considered the arm of the company for cattle.

The plant in Estreito will be the first verticalized in the world, where it will commercialize meat exclusively from the partner farms Origine. “This means that we will follow from the production of the animals in the partner farms, all the way to the final product for the consumer,” said the founding president of the Origine Group, Júlio César Resende.

The company ensures that animal welfare will be considered at all stages of the process. For this, the Grandin system will be adopted at the factory, which reduces the animal’s stress, guaranteeing quality and better final taste of the meat. Regarding the environmental aspect, all the energy used by the Origine industry in Estreito will be generated by its own photovoltaic power generation plant. The waters will be treated and reused and treated again before returning to nature.
